Part vintage hunter, part party magic.
JFO Design Studio grew out of The French Gypsee, Julia’s French-inspired vintage and resale shop. It became an event design studio because the same eye that finds the perfect piece can build the perfect room.
If it sparkles, sways or lights up, we’re in.
Julia’s shop, The French Gypsee, lives at Booth A3 inside America’s Antique Mall in Algonquin, Illinois — a booth full of bohemian and vintage décor, cool clothes and the occasional fabulous disco dress. The shop is where the design work started: hunting for pieces with personality, then layering them into something that feels curated, not bought.
Event design was the natural next step. Weddings, corporate events, decade birthdays, holiday parties and dinner soirées all get the same treatment — a concept built around you, then the lighting, fringe, crystals and tablescape that make it come alive. Based in Rockford, we design across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
We’re calling it now: fringe is taking over 2026 and 2027 weddings. We could not be happier.
What we believe
A few things that show up in every room we design.
Your vibe, not a template
A ’70s disco dinner, a candlelit black-tie 50th, a garden brunch — the design starts with the person being celebrated, never a package.
Light changes everything
Candles, string lights, disco balls, crystal — lighting is the first thing we plan and the last thing we tweak before the doors open.
Curated over matched
Vintage pieces, textures and layers make a space feel like it has a story. Our studio is our secret weapon.
